Mount Bromo is renowned for its expansive caldera, surrounded by the surreal Sea of Sand and lush green savannas. Towering at 2,329 meters, visitors can ascend 250 steps to the rim of the crater. To begin the adventure, you’ll ride in a 4WD jeep to the viewpoint for a spectacular sunrise over the mountains.
Ijen Crater is famous for its blue fire, a rare natural phenomenon. The crater, which is also home to a stunning turquoise lake, has been recognized as a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve since 2016. In Ijen you will experience a morning trek about 1,5-2 hours from Ijen Paltuding to the crater and get the opportunity to witness the mesmerizing blue fire before dawn.
ITINERARY MOUNT BROMO IJEN CRATER TOUR 3D2N FROM YOGYAKARTA:
DAY 1: YOGYAKARTA – CEMORO LAWANG VILLAGE
08:00 AM Depart from your hotel in Yogyakarta for a scenic drive about 8hours to Mount Bromo, with a stop for lunch on the way. Arrive at Cemoro Lawang Village, situated near the base of Mount Bromo. Check IN hotel and enjoy the afternoon at leisure. Rest up for an early start the following day.
DAY 2: MOUNT BROMO TOUR – BONDOWOSO VILLAGE
03:00 AM Wake up in the early morning, take a Jeep 4WD ride to the sunrise viewpoint (Penanjakan Hill, Kingkong Hill, or Love Hill). Enjoy the stunning view of the sun rising over the mountains. After sunrise, continue to explore Mount Bromo, crossing the Sea of Sand by Jeep and take a leisure trek of 250 steps to the Bromo Crater Rim for the view of an active crater. Return to the hotel for breakfast, check-out, and begin the 5-hour drive to Bondowoso Village near the Ijen Crater area. Upon arrival in Bondowoso Village, check-in at the hotel and rest for the evening.
DAY 3: IJEN CRATER TOUR – BANYUWANGI PORT / SURABAYA
01:00 AM Depart early from hotel to Ijen Paltuding Post. Begin the 2 hours trek to reach the Ijen Crater with an experienced trekking guide. Witness the magical blue fire phenomenon, explore the Ijen caldera and take in the panoramic views. Afterward, return to the Ijen Paltuding Post for breakfast and some rest. Transfer to Ketapang Port in Banyuwangi (1.5 hours) or head to Surabaya (6-7 hours). End of the Journey!
